A loyal customer had a surprisingly cut gem, a pale pink spinel, that she wanted to have mounted in a pendant. She asked me to create it for her, and as with all bespoke projects, I presented her with several jewellery options in the form of gouache drawings. Her choice fell on the NOVA pendant that I am introducing to you here.
My wish was to create for her a piece of jewellery that was surreal and alive, thanks to the different openings that allow it to be worn in many different ways. By harmonising my sculpture with Akoya pearls, to which I'm very attached, the jewel captures and brings out the delicate light of the central stone. The pink colour of this spinel gives it a romantic aura, but this model could just as easily be adapted to other shapes and colours of stone, or metal, and reveal other feelings...
I hope that NOVA's shape will appeal to your imagination, and that you will perhaps feel some floral, marine or celestial inspiration?
